The Conundrum of Being limitless, A View from Up in The Air
July 23, 2015Meditation – Tools and Tips for Beginners
September 23, 2015Having been on the Spiritual Path for the last ten years or so, and been God seeking and God worshiping, ever since I can remember, I have a reasonable amount of experience in the subject matter of The Search for God. The search for God can also be defined as a deeper connection with ourselves or something greater or beyond ourselves.
Over the years, I have learnt from many teachers. All teachers led me on a path which has brought me to a closer understanding and experience of the Ultimate Reality / God/ Source. Having said that, not all experiences were positive. In my search, I also dealt with perverted or false spiritual teachers the kind that demand unconditional obedience and ensure dependency. As I look back, I see that the experience with these kind of teachers taught me a very important skill – This was the ability to differentiate what is of God and what is not of God. It sharpened my discernment skills, and taught me to trust my intuition, instead of a blind trust in something external, no matter what the peer pressure. Being part of a corrupt spiritual organization for a short period of time also gave me many insights on why people end up in Cults and Controlling organizations. These reasons are mostly to do with deep psychological wounds, a lack of self-love and an unwillingness to take responsibility for ourselves, leading us to depend on an outward saviour.
In the end both my positive and negative experiences have helped me to come to this point, where I feel that I have a good grasp on understanding the Search for a greater purpose. Armed with the knowledge and study of a variety of teachers which include books, teachings, Gurus and systems, I felt that it was time that I start writing about some of these experiences.
I also believe, that personal growth takes some trial and error to figure out what works for you, but this is an all important part of the process. However, this may be of help others who are on the path in the selection process and pick those that feel most suitable to them. I did not have much of a point of reference when I was eagerly searching. Books and Google searches led me from one teaching to another. There is only one thing I can confirm and that is that the path is not easy.
If you are committed to growing in a spiritual sense, you will have to put in the practice and effort into the system you choose. Discipline and commitment, are the primary requirements of any and every one of these systems. (the ones that work and give lasting results). I dont believe in quick fixes and others doing our work for us.
It has been a wonderful journey so far. If I am certain of one thing, it is that this seeking is a continuous process till we are in this physical body. So until then, there is more to learn and more to transcend in our consciousness.
I hope you enjoy my blog and please let me have your comments and share any experiences that you would like to contribute about.
