Do I need a life coach?
April 21, 2021A Managers guide to Executive Coaching
July 12, 2021What is Coaching?
Coaching is a highly impactful and deeply transformational process – which enhances both personal and organizational performance. The difference between Coaching and training is that Coaching is non-directive in nature and focuses on the individual self. The job of the Coach is not to teach the client – but to elicit the wisdom and potential that is lying latent in the individual.
Because of its focus on expanded self-awareness – It is empowering, has a long-term impact, and creates mindset shifts, which are otherwise not possible.
Why do we need a Coach?
If you think about it – all extraordinary athletes have Coached. So do the most successful CEOS and Executives in the world. The reason is simple – if you want to be exceptional in life, you need a Coach.
As human beings, we have a natural yearning to be our best selves and excel in life. Each one of us is born with a unique set of strengths and abilities, which when put to correct use – will lead us to excel. The problem is that most people are not aware of their own special abilities and talents. Instead, they try to copy what they think has made others successful. This often leads to much frustration, when the results of our efforts, are quite different from those we try to emulate. The Executive or Life coach’s job is to help you understand your own unique values and strengths and use that knowledge to achieve the goals that you want.
Let’s divide the Coaching contexts for our audience – the individual and the organization.
What does Life or Executive Coaching do for an individual?
- Unlocks untapped potential
- Help identify strengths, values, and belief systems
- Develops leadership abilities
- Gives a new perspective and heightened awareness of their inner self, their core motivations, and desires
- Helps let go of limiting emotional baggage and thought patterns/ beliefs
- Helps to develop authentic self-esteem which is core to success in any part of life.
- The Coach also serves as an accountability partner / and a powerful support structure for overall well-being.
- Coaching provides a safe space, to be vulnerable and open in a non-judgemental, loving, and respectful setting
- Provides clarity of mind, and focuses on active goal setting
What does Executive Coaching do for an organization?
In today’s world where competition is high and business success is crucial, the best investment an organization can make is in the growth and development of an organization’s most important resource – its people. Human Capital is at the helm of every successful organization and business AND Coaching is the best way to deal with performance problems.
In Coaching leaders, executives, and High potentials organizations benefit from
- Improved job and team performance

- Increased morale of leaders, and subsequently those they lead
- Alignment of personal and organizational goals, resulting in greater motivation to achieve organizational goals

- Happier employees lead to a healthier organizational culture resulting in lower levels of personal and cultural entropy
- Capacity building and leadership development for taking on new and expanded roles requiring greater responsibility
- The non-directive nature of Coaching is very empowering for employees and has a long-term impact on their well-being, stress management, and leadership ability
